Get to Know Me!
Hi everyone my name is Ikani Naulu. I am currently a senior at Bushnell University studying business with a concentration in marketing. I am originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, and moved to Oregon for college when I was only 17. The transition from a small island to living in the mainland was such a unique experience. I took an opportunity most people don’t get and for that, I’m super grateful for that. Over the next few years I’ve been endlessly blessed with the education I’m getting and even the opportunity to work with Farmers Insurance.
Being born and raised in Hawaii is something I wouldn’t trade for in the world. I pride myself on my Polynesian roots. I am almost full Tongan, Tonga is located in the South Pacific Islands. Not many people know about my culture and who we are but that’s because we are from such a small island. Both of my parents are from Tonga and moved to Hawai’i and built a life of their own here. They have five kids in total, four girls and one boy. Yes, that is right I am the youngest of four sisters. My parents are the definition of hard work and dedication and I learned a lot of my work ethic from them.
If I’m not in the classroom or helping my parents with their business, I’m most likely at the beach. The beach is always going to be a part of my life and is a good space to go when I need to clear my head. I also enjoy photography a lot especially film, I just like finding the value in pictures and the memories it comes with. My favorite artist is J Boog and my favorite movie is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. One of a favorite dish to eat is called Lu, Lu is a traditional Tongan dish that is made of taro leaves, coconut milk, and corned beef. The corned beef is wrapped in taro leaves topped with coconut milk and optional but I love it, onions! You can bake or steam it and it’s the most delicious thing you’ll ever have.
One of my long-term goals in life is to create and own a brand. I picture myself working in a lot of different projects and things that tap into other professions. Since I am also considered the man of the house I hope to build a successful future where I am able to take care of my parents and give back to my family who helped me become who I am today and helped get me to where I am today.
This is just a small portion I wanted to share with you guys, thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
